Introducing the KDE Desktop 72 Getting Started Guide Using KDE After Installation The first time you log in after installing OpenLinux, KDE presents several con- figuration options to help you set up your Desktop interface just as you’d like it. The first screen you see after logging in is shown in Figure 37. FIGURE 37.  The first KDE screen after a new user log in presents a configuration wizard. NOTE: Each new user account is set up in the same way. If you create a new user account in OpenLinux, that new user will see the same screens described here the first time that user logs in. To configure your KDE interface: 1. Review the introduction screen and then choose the Next button to continue. A list of desktop designs is presented, such as KDE, Windows, Macin- tosh, or BeOS. 2. Click the desktop style that you prefer and choose Next to continue. NOTE: Although the selection that you make (such as Win- dows or MacOS) affects the appearance of the KDE Desktop, not all features of these proprietary desktops are evident as you use KDE. A window showing several devices appears. 3. Click on the devices that are included on your computer system.
